Aspiring author Xiang Wan faces a crisis of confidence after her fourth novel flops, leading her family to suggest she abandon her dream and marry instead. Just as she grapples with this dilemma, her life takes an unexpected turn when a striking man appears and escorts her to the police station. To her astonishment, she discovers she is the primary suspect in a murder case.
The details of the crime bear an eerie resemblance to her latest novel. The captivating man turns out to be Detective Bai, a talented investigator with a concealed identity, assigned to the case. From this point on, Xiang Wan's life becomes chaotic.
Initially, she seeks protection from Detective Bai, requesting to stay at his residence. She boldly asserts, "Detective Bai, is it not the duty of the police to protect the witness when her life is in extreme danger?" She subsequently finds herself staying overnight at his house due to a series of unusual circumstances.
