Gary Smith finds himself in a unique world of beastmasters, a world where an ancient taboo is reawakened from the depths of time and an evil god lurks. In this setting, spiritual power can manifest from various sources—birds, beasts, rivers, mountains, and even elemental forces—transforming them into pet beasts. The most formidable among these pet beasts establish their own ecological niches, generating secret realm ecosystems like the Yellow Spring, the Skeleton Kingdom, the Succubus Nest, and the Kingdom of the Sky Tree, each nurturing a multitude of followers. Beastmasters in this world form contracts with these pet beasts, nurturing them and controlling their spiritual power.
Following an event known as the “Taboo Sun,” Gary Smith acquires a unique ability: he can extract materials from anything in the world to create "Secret Food." This Secret Food comes in different forms, each with distinct effects. For instance, an Evolutionary Secret Food, created by combining "The Shattered Dusk World" and "Ancient Dragon’s Dead Egg," results in the "Feast of the End." When a pet beast consumes this, it evolves into the Dusk Dragon God, whose Dusk Domain then encroaches upon the world, ultimately transforming into the God at the end of time.
Another type, Skill Secret Food, enables pet beasts to plunder skills from any source, granting them omniscience and omnipotence. There's also Sacrificial Secret Food, which allows for the seizure of taboo time, the sacrifice of ancient beings, and the blasphemy of gods. Consequently, Gary's approach to beast control becomes rather unusual. His pet beasts include a Spider Shadow that devours ancient dragons and weaves the dreams of all living beings with its threads, a Red Master that pollutes the multiverse, and a Devourer of the Realms that consumes entire worlds. Despite these peculiar and powerful creations, Gary maintains, "My pet beasts are just a bit peculiar. They really are not evil gods!"
