Transcending Dreams follows William, a man from a modern world who suddenly finds himself transmigrated into a high fantasy cultivation world. His arrival is anything but peaceful, as he awakens tied up by captors preparing human sacrifices. Witnessing children being sacrificed, William narrowly escapes the same fate when an old monster intervenes, saving him from death. Now known as Wei Liang by the locals, William must navigate this unfamiliar Eastern setting, a world he previously only knew from books. Living in such a world proves far different from reading about it, presenting him with numerous challenges and a constant struggle for survival. He is equipped with a unique system that introduces game elements, allowing him to gain experience (EXP) and stat points, which he can then assign to improve himself. However, his journey is complicated by the fact that his system initially operates in "Safe Mode" due to soul damage, requiring him to reach level 10 to fully unlock its features. Upon achieving this, he discovers that a tutorial, which would have been available at level 5, is now inaccessible. William's system also presents limitations; he cannot use features like an Inventory or Mini-Map without gaining insight into relevant Daos, such as the Space Dao for an Inventory. Despite this, he can use "Observe" and "Detailed Observe" on most individuals without issue. He even gains insight into the Dao of Perception, though his current cultivation level is insufficient to maintain it, nearly leading to his demise. His path to strength is multifaceted. He can increase his stats by consuming special fruits and meals, and by utilizing stat points. However, these methods, along with taking pills, contribute to an increase in his "impurity" level. Reaching level 2 impurity results in a 10% debuff to EXP gain, and if it becomes too high, it is said to block his progression to higher realms. Despite having a medic capable of cleansing these impurities, William often doesn't take advantage of this when he could. William’s sect believes he is a genius whose talent flourishes through combat. They worry the imperial family might try to poach or eliminate him. Yet, instead of placing him in an environment conducive to continuous fighting, they send him on a sect mission to a city with an imperial family branch. He is accompanied by a senior who is being courted by a local prince, and a princess is also assigned to join them for protection, though William is not instructed to conceal his talents. This arrangement proves futile when, early in their journey, they are all sucked into a space vortex, losing their protectors and landing William in a pocket dimension, then a desert, and finally an oasis. Throughout his journey, William is consistently surrounded by more powerful individuals who often force decisions upon him, leaving him little choice but to comply to avoid being crushed. This constant pressure and lack of control over his circumstances are a recurring source of stress and anger for him. The narrative progresses at a slow pace, with romance being a very late development, occurring only when William reaches an appropriate age. The story is not a harem, focusing on a single beautiful female lead. William’s journey is one of age progression and transformation from weak to strong, though his development is often pushed by external forces and unexpected events.
