Willard, a seemingly average gamer, is in reality a runaway young master of the Scarlet Vultures, a powerful mafia organization. In his previous life, he was an early side character in the world’s narrative, destined to be a mere stepping stone for the protagonist, Bran. His life takes a tragic turn when he is discovered and killed by a rival gang.
However, Willard is granted a second chance. He awakens in the past, at a pivotal moment when two significant events reshaped his life: the death of his father and the highly anticipated release of War Online, the world’s largest VRMMO game. Armed with knowledge of the future and his past identity, Willard decides to leverage his connections and ruthlessness within the game.
He quickly establishes himself as a formidable, albeit morally ambiguous, presence in War Online. Willard isn't above using illicit means to achieve his goals. If a skill book is too expensive, he directs his "boys" to rob other players. When he encounters the young master of the Paves Group, he orders their kidnapping. Confronted with a 1v1 challenge, he prefers to have his "boys" gang up and eliminate his opponent. He even offers protection services, for a fee in either in-game gold or real-world cash, to players bullied by large guilds, promising to deal with their tormentors and their leaders.
The novel follows Willard Ravens as he transforms into the "Mafia Boss" within War Online, utilizing his real-life mafia connections and tactics to dominate the virtual world with the help of his "Mafia brothers." His journey is a blend of virtual reality gameplay, strategic manipulation, and the pervasive influence of his criminal background.
